Harbour Bay Mall that was opposite has only a few shops open. As an apology, the counter staff offer to let us have a complimentary stay, which well was just said only with no actions at all. We went back at 11am, & another counter staff told us that" oh, sorry, the room will be available only at 2pm" Only after we made a fuss then the staff realized that there is a room available & allow us to check in. Ok, reluctantly I moved to another hotel for 1 night, & the staff told me that I can go back the next day at any time & the room will be ready by then. When I asked him back, "what if I refused to move?" He just replied "sorry!" & return my credit card. To my horror, upon my arrival on Fri, I was told there was no rooms available for me! System error they claimed! So, I was asked to move to another hotel. The staff still call me on tues to confirm my booking. My first trip to Batam, booked online a few weeks back. I for one will never be staying at this hotel ever again. Food is much cheaper in nagoya than harbour bay mall. took a cab to nagoya hills mall which is ard 5-10mins away and costs idr30,000. There is a small convenience store closer to the ferry terminal where we bought our mineral water and stuff from. There are hardly any shops open and there is no supermarket contrary to one of the other reviews. Being beside a main road, traffic noise can be an issue with loud motorbikes going by every now and then even late at night. Location wise, it is just across the road from harbour bay mall. The swimming pool water was stagnant and there was literally a layer of dirt floating on it, so basically as good as no swimming pool either. Oh yes and there is also NO spa or gym at this hotel. On this topic, there is no baby cot either. For those with young kids, there is NO baby chair (first time I have ever encountered this). There are very limited dishes for bfast and you have to pour your own coffee or tea, no egg station. On enquiry, we were told that there is no menu provided and that if we wanted to order room service we had to come down to the restaurant and order and they would send it up, defeats the whole purpose of room service. It offers you accommodation with a comfortable, warm and relaxing ambience. We were also quite surprised to find that there was no room service menu or any other info about the hotel's facilities/amenities. Nestled in the vibrancy of the famous Nagoya Hill area, Goodway Hotel Batam is located in close walking proximity to the premier shopping and entertainment district. For those who like to watch a bit of tv or movies at night after a day out, dont bother, the reception is horrible with most channels being 'fuzzy' and 'rainy'. Called up reception and they replaced it promptly. The first day when we checked in to the room, we were quite disappointed to find bedding and towels which were stained. Apart from the friendly staff and free wifi in the room, there is nothing else good to say about this hotel. This is possibly the worst hotel i have ever stayed at.
